Say you have a 100 PPM solution of H_{2}SO_{4} with a molar mass of 98.08 g/mol. What is the molarity of 100 PPM of H_{2}SO_{4}?

We just input **‘100’** in the 1st PPM input field, input **‘98.08’** in the 2nd molar mass field, hit **‘Calculate’**, and we get the result in this form (screenshot):

We can see that 100 PPM of H_{2}SO_{4} is equal to **0.001020 M** (Molarity in mol/L). This result is accurate to 6 decimal points.

### How To Convert PPM To M (Molarity)? (PPM to mol/L Formula)

We are basically converting Parts Per Million to mol/L; this is the PPM to molarity conversion. All these calculations are based on this PPM to molarity formula:

**Molarity = PPM / (1000 Ã— Molar Mass)**

We can see that, in order to calculate molarity, we have to *divide* PPMs by molar mass, multiplied by a 1000 factor. We can see that the one and only factor in PPM to molarity conversion is the molar mass of the chemical substance we are looking at.

Let’s look at the 2nd example to see this formula in action:

Say you have a 500 PPM NaOH solution, and you would like to know the molarity of this water solution. We know that the molar mass of NaOH is 40 g/mol. To calculate molarity, we just need to insert these 2 numbers in the equation above like this (with the result):

**Molarity (500 PPM NaOH)** = *500 PPM* / (1000 Ã— *40 g/mol*) = **0.0125 mol/L**

We can see that 500 PPM NaOh forms a **0.0125 M solution**. That means that we have 0.0125 moles of NaOH in every liter of water solution.

Now, this is calculations just for 1 substance (NaOH) and for 1 PPM concentration (500 PPM).
